Introducing the Secretariat of the Service of Faith

Introducing the Secretariat of the Service of Faith. The secretariat for Service of Faith is an umbrella term under which the four commissions of JEPASA, JIGSA, IRD and PWPN are subsumed. It was restricted in its present form after REGAE-II, through a decision taken by JCSA in October 2019 at Ranchi. The Secretariat for the Service of Faith for South Asian Assistancy advises POSA and his team on the main issues that the Society must address in the Service of the Faith. It collaborates with the other Province Secretariats to animate the service of faith in all apostolic sectors, while also being responsible for coordinating and supporting the work of Jesuits and our co-workers in the sector of Pastoral Ministry and Spirituality, with particular attention to the ministry of the Spiritual Exercises. The Secretariat coordinates the Secretariat for Ecumenical and Inter-religious Relations and serves as liaison to Groups working in Ecumenism and Inter-religious Dialogue.

Ignatian Year

Why is Ignatian Year?

In 1521, while Ignatius was convalescing at his family home in Loyola from the wound that damaged his leg at the battle of Pamplona, God brought about his conversion and put him on the road that led to Manresa. Together with our friends and the whole Church, the universal Society wants to remember that privileged moment when the Holy Spirit inspired Ignatius of Loyola in his decision to follow Christ and to deepen our understanding of this pilgrim way in order to ‘draw fruit’ from it. To this end, the Ignatian year will open on the 20th of May 2021 (the anniversary of the injury at Pamplona). It will conclude on the 31st of July 2022. The materials will enrich us to understand Ignatius and enable us to have a CONVERSION OF HEART. May you have a transformative experience as you go through these articles.

EUCHARISTIC YOUTH MOVEMENT

EYM stands for the Eucharistic Youth Movement. It is the youth branch of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network (PWPN).The EYM is an International Movement for the Christian formation of children and young people from 5 to 25 years old. EYM invites young people around the world to live in Jesus’ way, in a heart-to-heart relationship of friendship with him, based on a Eucharistic spirituality for the mission. It is founded on the pedagogy of the Emmaus disciples: Gospel, Eucharist and Mission. The Way of the Heart is its wellspring. The pedagogy of the EYM has the following dimensions:

1. The EYM as a pedagogy of choice, underlines the importance of discernment.

2. The EYM as a way to live like Jesus, underlines the invitation to model one’s life on Him.

3. The EYM as a way to become a Eucharistic person, seeking to better understand the Eucharist and the process of growth in Christ.

4. The EYM as a Eucharistic Crusade, stressing adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and concern for the liturgy.

5. The EYM as a devotion to the Heart of Jesus, including prayer for the Pope’s monthly intentions.
